Fix Permission Issues

Common permission issues and how to resolve them.

"No permissions" Warning

If you see the message "No permissions - You have no permissions to view questions in this space":

How to fix:

1. Check space permissions - Go to Space Settings → Apps → Community Questions for Confluence
2. Verify user access - Ensure the user (or a group they belong to, or "All Confluence users") has View permission for Questions
3. Using "All product admins" only? - This user class is not supported. Switch to using groups or "All Confluence users" instead
4. Recently changed permissions? - Users may need to refresh the page for changes to take effect

"Global Questions Permissions Not Configured" Warning

If you see the warning banner "Global Questions permissions not configured. Users cannot ask or view global questions." when viewing Global Questions:

This warning appears when Global Questions is enabled but no users or groups have been granted access to view or create questions in the Global Questions space.

How to fix:

1. Click the Configure permissions link in the warning banner, or go to Global Questions space → Settings → Permissions → Apps
2. Find the "Community Questions for Confluence" section
3. Grant View and Create permissions for Questions to "All Confluence users" or specific groups
4. (Optional) Grant permissions for other content types such as Answers, Tags, and Votes

Forge App Missing from Space Access

The Forge app may not appear under Space settings → Space access → Apps. That does not prevent people from voting or deleting supported content: the app account does not need Delete permission for Questions, Votes, or Tags.

Check the permission recipient:

• If a person cannot see or change votes, grant that person, their group, or an appropriate access class Votes View, Add, and Delete.
• Do not try to solve a human permission denial by granting Vote permissions to the app account.
• The app account needs Questions View and Add plus Tags View and Add. It also needs either Space Admin or Add/Delete Restrictions for content restrictions.

"Question Not Deleted" or "Answer Not Deleted"

This message means you could delete the selected question or answer, but one of its nested answers or comments could not be removed with the available permissions. Community Questions keeps the selected question or answer instead of reporting a completed deletion. Some nested content may already have been removed.

How to fix:

1. Retry once in case another user removed the nested content at the same time.
2. If you are a space administrator, use Open space permissions in the message and grant the relevant content type's Delete permission.
3. Otherwise, use View permission guide and ask a space administrator to grant the permission or delete the content.
4. Retry the original deletion.

Space Admin by itself does not include every Delete permission. Add/Delete Restrictions controls view and edit restrictions and does not grant Delete.
