General Questions

What is Community Questions?

Community Questions is a Q&A platform for Confluence Cloud that transforms your spaces into knowledge-sharing communities. Users can ask questions, provide answers, vote on content, and earn reputation points.

How much does it cost?

Community Questions uses Atlassian's per-user pricing model:

Pricing is managed automatically through your Atlassian account.

Which Confluence versions are supported?

Community Questions is available for Confluence Cloud only. It is not available for Confluence Server or Data Center.

Can I use it on multiple spaces?

Yes! You can enable Community Questions on as many Confluence spaces as needed. Reputation can be tracked per-space or globally across all spaces.

Questions & Answers

How do I ask a question?

Navigate to the Questions tab, click "Ask Question", fill in the details, and submit. See the Using Q&A guide for complete details.

Can I edit or delete my questions?

Yes. You can edit or delete your own questions anytime. Deleting a question permanently removes all answers, comments, and votes - this cannot be undone.

Can I accept multiple answers?

No, you can only accept one answer per question to highlight the best solution.

Voting & Reputation

How does voting work?

  • Click Upvote on helpful content (+10 points to author)
  • Click again to remove your upvote (-10 points to author)
  • You cannot vote on your own content

How do I earn reputation points?

  • +10 points per upvote on your question or answer
  • +15 points when your answer is accepted
  • -10 points when an upvote is removed
  • -15 points when an accepted answer is changed

Is reputation tracked per space or globally?

Both! Reputation is tracked:

  • Per space - Points earned in each Confluence space
  • Globally - Total points across all spaces

The Users tab shows rankings for both space-specific and global reputation.

Can reputation points be reset?

No. Points are only adjusted when votes are added/removed or content is deleted. See the Voting System guide for details.

Integrations

What integrations are available?

Community Questions supports Slack (OAuth), Google Chat (webhooks), Microsoft Teams (webhooks), and CSV import for bulk data. See the Integrations section for setup guides.

Can I send notifications to multiple channels?

Yes. You can create multiple connections for different channels with different triggers and tag filters.

Permissions & Access

Who can use Community Questions?

Permissions are configured per space in Space Settings → Apps → Community Questions for Confluence. Administrators can control access for Questions, Votes, and Tags with granular View/Add/Delete permissions.

Technical Questions

Where is my data stored?

All data is stored within your Confluence Cloud instance following Atlassian's data residency policies. See the Security Policy for details.

What happens if I uninstall the app?

Uninstalling removes the app but preserves all Q&A content in Confluence. Reinstalling restores full access to existing content.
