Fix Permission Issues
Common permission issues and how to resolve them.
"No permissions" Warning
If you see the message "No permissions - You have no permissions to view questions in this space":
How to fix:
- Check space permissions - Go to Space Settings → Apps → Community Questions for Confluence
- Verify user access - Ensure the user (or a group they belong to, or "All Confluence users") has View permission for Questions
- Using "All product admins" only? - This user class is not supported. Switch to using groups or "All Confluence users" instead
- Recently changed permissions? - Users may need to refresh the page for changes to take effect
For detailed information about configuring permissions, see the Admin Configuration guide.
"Global Questions Permissions Not Configured" Warning
If you see the warning banner "Global Questions permissions not configured. Users cannot ask or view global questions." when viewing Global Questions:
This warning appears when Global Questions is enabled but no users or groups have been granted access to view or create questions in the Global Questions space.
How to fix:
- Click the Configure permissions link in the warning banner, or go to Global Questions space → Settings → Permissions → Apps
- Find the "Community Questions for Confluence" section
- Grant View and Create permissions for Questions to "All Confluence users" or specific groups
- (Optional) Grant permissions for other content types like Answers, Tags, and Reactions
Note: The Confluence API does not allow apps to automatically set permissions for "All Confluence users". This must be configured manually by an admin after enabling Global Questions.
